Import Registration Certificate
IMPORT REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE (IRC)
REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS:
- Copy of valid Trade License
- Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- VAT Registration Certificate
- Copy of membership certificate from the local Chamber of Commerce and Industry or relevant Trade Association
- Original copy of Treasury Challan
- If a partnership business: Partnership Deed (certified attested copy)
- If a limited company: (certified attested copies)
- Certificate of Incorporation
- Articles of Association
- Memorandum of Association
(To facilitate verification of the submitted documents, applicants are requested to submit the original documents as well. The original copies will be returned upon completion of the process).

ONLINE APPLICATION
APPLICATION FILING
- Submit the online application along with the prescribed fee to the Chief Controller of Imports & Exports (CCIE). Anyone can file the application for obtaining the Import Registration Certificate (IRC), also known as Import License.
DEPOSIT SCHEDULE FEES
RECEIVED CERTIFICATE
- After checking the submitted documents, the office of the Chief Controller of Imports & Exports will issue the license in favor of the applicant.
- Anyone can import any permissible item without value and quantity restrictions and without obtaining permission from any authority in Bangladesh, but the Import Registration Certificate (IRC) or import license is needed for the import of such items.
- The Office of the Chief Controller of Imports and Exports (CCIE), an individual organization under the Ministry of Commerce, issues this import certificate or import license. The legal basis for this permission is found in the Import Policy Order 2015-2018.
- Therefore, the Import Registration Certificate (IRC) or import license is a mandatory document for business entities intending to import raw materials or special items to Bangladesh.
RENEWAL OF IRC
IRC must be renewed annually. The required documents are:
- IRC and Passbook (original copy and two photocopies)
- Renewal Application by the applicant
- Treasury Challan of the annual renewal fee at Bangladesh Bank or Sonali Bank (scan copy and two photocopies)
The applicant is required to arrange the documents and deposit the annual renewal fee at Bangladesh Bank or Sonali Bank.
